Comte de Lauze - Châteauneuf-du-Pape

The Comte de Lauze Estate has been operated by the current owners since 1976. It is made up of 10 hectares of Châteauneuf du Pape and 12 hectares of Côtes du Rhône.

The vineyard's soil is clay-limestone with round pebbles, which accumulate the heat during the day and radiate back to the vines after sunset. It favorises grapes to ripen slowly and makes the wines more powerful. Wines have good ageing potential.

The southern Rhône, between Montélimar and Nîmes, has flatter terrain than the northern Rhône and more Mediterranean climate. However, the mistral, a strong dry wind, prevents the grapes from over-ripening and carries away the moisture.
